I received a nice note today from horse racing historian Robert M. Smith of London, ON. Mr. Smith runs the website www.OldRecollections.com. He passed along a pair of quotes that he thought someone embarking on long-term travel might enjoy.
Robert himself wrote, “I applaud you for making the decision you have made and wish you all the best in your travels, wherever they may take you. Life passes by rather quickly and when you have a desire to do something, it is best not to wait too long. I am a long time follower of The Walton’s TV show and have copied down many of Grandpa’s cherished sayings. He once said, “One day soon may be one day too late“… so best you move on with your plans.
Robert closed with this gem which he attributes to Eleanor Roosevelt: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
So far my travel plans have been mostly dreams but time is flying and the reality of this trip is really beginning to set in.
