Saturday #105: Pride in Madrid

I was in Madrid, Spain for Saturday #105. I was not alone. In addition to 3.3 million Madrileños, the city hosted hundreds of thousand of tourists from other parts of Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and indeed the entire world. There were 10 people in my hostel dorm and we were from 10 different countries. That’s rare and I think it speaks to the fact that Pride in Madrid is truly World Class.
You may have noticed that Saturday #105 was on July 2 and it’s now July 10. I’m a week behind and have a busy week ahead, so rather than spend the day writing about old news, I have decided to post some photos that tell the story of Pride in Madrid and will instead concentrate on writing up my account of Saturday #106 in Pamplona.
I took the photos shown above on Friday and Saturday (with an iPhone 6S). The next three photos were taken on Saturday in Madrid by other photographers who posted them to a common Flickr pool. The bottom photo is by renowned AP photographer Daniel Ochoa de Olza. It’s a classic, in my opinion.

Re the final pic – damn it’s hard work being gay sometimes. (Both walking in those shoes and having a stone bench on your bare arse.)
